| [F] -F- Vancouver BC 2nd July meet report [message #297005] |

In spite of the paving on Broadway, we (me & my SOGP)
made it to the Benny's Bagels on Broadway by 11:30 am to
find Blake already in residence out at a table under the trees.
Lesley joined us shortly later. This is definitely a frugal place,
and their coffee & food are good. I'll go back.
We discussed afp, housekeeping, or lack of it, and that eight-
year old boys speaking any language can be kept talking
about explosions and whatnot, even if the adult doesn't under
stand a word, by the simple expedience of "uh-huh" inserted
at proper intervals.
We also discussed jazz festivals, and venues that have the
speakers right over the top of the tables & then crank up
the volume, and overwrought music being anathema. We
discussed apartment cat bird catching antics, and that cats
are smart enough to out smart a human who attempts to
keep the cat indoors at night.
We discussed future meets, since all of us work at different
times of the day and days of the week. We're hoping that
perhaps a Saturday afternoon around 2:30 or 3:00 might be
able to fit in various people's schedules, and perhaps have
a sort of afternoon "tea" meal, but we'll see how it goes.
The first weekend in August is a long weekend, and tends
to have a lot of family obligations.
We shall now commence planning the next meet, and will
announce it when we have something to announce. :)
April.

It is good.

The staying out and even missing her supper until after we've gone to bed
ploy works, but the new one of stashing dead rats and birds behind the TV so
that she can feast during the lean afternoons and still stay out as long as
she likes ploy doesn't. Not in this hot weather - our noses may not be as
sensitive as hers, but they're quite sensitive enough for that.

It was nice to meet some of the local afp crew. Next time I hope my
stomach is more settled and I can be a better participant. Thanks for
the patience this time though! But as promised, I did show up in a
funny hat, a brightly coloured jacket and boots with pointy toes, and a
DW book, just in case the rest wasn't a good tip off. ;-)
I'll keep in touch about next time and hopefully will be able to meet
Jessie as well.

I hope that's all OK now.

So you did! I for one didn't guess why you promised to do this until I met
you.

Mostly, the stomach anyway. I may have strained something in my back
while was being ill. I suspect I'll survive.

I suspect it's my inner peacock trying to get out. You can see the
other jacket when the weather gets cooler. ;-)
